UGG Boots During the Summertime. A Fashion Do or a Fashion Don't?

Walking around campus, the mall, the grocery store, and even on the streets, I've been seeing a new phenomenon (or, new to me at least.) UGG Boots and a denim mini skirt or shorts. It seems like a season clash! My first thoughts are, do you think it's winter when it's summer? Which one are you, hot or cold? Don't your feet get hot??

Being the dork that I am, I actually typed "Uggs in the summer" in my google search engine, and was bombarded with discussion links to this very topic. There seems to be mixed reviews, and even though it does seem like a crazy combination, if worn right, it actually looks decent. In the words of Bob Blackmam, make it pretty and make it work, right?

And as for the question, "wouldn't your feet get hot?" Well upon my research, the sheepskin in the boots are supposed to keep your feet at body temperature. In the summertime, your feet will be kept cool and in the winter, your feet will be kept warm. They were originally designed for Australian surfers to wrap their feet up after surfing. Ironically, they were called "Uggly boots" by these very surfers.

You will either love or hate UGGs, but the question is: What do you think about the UGG-mini-shorts combination? So share your opinion! Is this fashion trend a do or a don't?

(For the sake of privacy for the girls in the pictures, I "black-barred" their faces. Nobody wants to stumble across a blog only to see people bashing their outfits. But if it turns out you absolutley love their outfits, kudos to them for having great fashion sense and personal style!)

And what could have stirred up this trend? Why, celebrities of course!!

but even if you are a celebrity (it is believed that Pam Anderson started this trend on the sets of Bay Watch), it is kind of hard to pull this particular look off with your UGGs. If you must pull out your UGGs during the summer weather, at least stick to the skirt or shorts combo, because flip flops are more beach appropriate shoes.
